Knots

Follow the links to view (in a new window) the Animated Knots website's tutorial on the most common knots we use:

The Bowline (specifically an INSIDE Bowline) is used to connect ropes to Points which need to be hung or removed.  Learn the difference, the importance, and how to tie this knot infallibly.  Right side up, and upside down.  At work you will not need to know how to tie it blindfolded or behind your back.  Until you are solid, really solid, doing it one way and doing it right that way every time, pick one way and focus on that one method.
Clove hitch with rope end is very handy and used for "tying up your tail" (the standing end)
Clove hitch with loops is very handy too, for example when using the "Endless" method to change links.
